 Accommodations

 

All talks and the poster sessions will be held at the Scheman Building. Housing costs are not included in the registration cost and you are responsible for making your own reservations. Housing will be available on the campus of Iowa State University within walking distance of the Scheman Building and at hotels 2.4 km (1.5 miles) from the conference site. Please see information about each accommodation location below. Transporation to/from the conference hotel to the conference site will be provided. If you choose to stay in a hotel other than a designated conference hotel, you will be responsible for your own transportation.

Please note that housing is limited on Saturday night, May 21 in Ames because of other events in town. Maple Dorms, the Memorial Union, Baymont Inn and Suites, and the Hotel at Gateway Center have some space on Saturday night.

 

Housing on the Iowa State University Campus

Rates:  Rates for the Maple dormitories are US$25.75/person/night for double occupancy rooms and US$33.25/night for single occupancy rooms. Please make your own reservations by 5:00 pm (CST) [11 pm (GMT)] May 6, 2005, to guarantee a room. Please note that dorm rooms will not be available before Saturday evening May 21, 2005 and that a limited number of rooms will be available for Saturday night. To make reservations, please use the “Reservation for Housing and/or Dining at Iowa State University Residence Halls” form. Amenities:  Air-conditioned rooms furnished with twin (single) beds, desks, chairs, chest of drawers, and spacious closets.  Each room has a sink.  Individual bathrooms and individual shower rooms are conveniently located in the center area of each floor, providing complete privacy in clean surroundings.  Telephones are not provided; however, telephone lines will be active and you may bring your own telephone with a line cord if you wish to plug into the phone jack.  Local phone service is included; long-distance calls require a calling card.  Elevator access is available in this high-rise residence hall.  Food service and computer hookups will not be available in Maple. We will have a computer facilities open daily at the Scheman Building. Free parking for guests is available next to the dorm complex.

If you decide to stay in our residence halls, you should be aware of the following regulations. Smoking is not allowed in the buildings and alcohol is not permitted. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed. For safety reasons, screens may not be removed from windows. There is a $56 charge for lost room keys, $15 for lost access keys, and $15 for lost keycards.

Rooms are no longer available at the Memorial Union.

Here charming European-style rooms are as cozy as your home, with convenient access to campus-wide events and to Campustown. The Memorial Union is located on the campus of Iowa State University. Each room is air conditioned and includes cable TV and data ports for computer access. Oversees telephone and fax service available as are TDD phones and phone cards. The Memorial Union is a full-service conference and meeting facility with food service and retail operations and arts, leisure and entertainment programs. Laundry pick-up and delivery available. Guest Room staff available 24 hours. It is 15-minute walk to any Iowa State University building from the Union. Check in: 3:00 pm. Check out: noon. Complimentary parking available in the attached, covered ramp.

 

Conference Hotels

Blocks of guest rooms have been reserved at Baymont Inn and Suites, Comfort Suites Hotel, and the Hotel at Gateway Center. These are the only hotels in Ames from which we will provide bus transportation to the Scheman Building. They are all located under 2.4 km (1.5 miles) from the conference site. Please note--if you are a government employee in the USA, you may be able to get a rate cheaper than those listed below.  Please inquire with your chosen hotel directly or on their website if you fall under this category.

Amenities:  Free hot continental breakfast (French toast, sausage, various cereals, fruit, donuts, muffins, etc…).  Wireless Internet connection/access is available in the lobby 24/7 at no charge.  Some rooms have high-speed Internet access, but you must request these rooms in advance.  Indoor pool, spa, meeting rooms, and guest laundry are available.

Rates: US$79 for a standard room and $89 - $99 per night for an executive room plus tax. Reservations must be made by April 30, 2005 to guarantee the conference rate. After this date you may still reserve a room but the price is not guaranteed. Contact the Hotel at Gateway Center for pricing after April 30, 2005.
